Survey Results RE-POST

Here are the survey results again. So far no one guessed the date. Nikki (one of my college roomies) and Pam's dates have not passed yet. I don't think Dr. P will let me make it until Halloween haha! October 18th might work, though. There is a Full moon October 19th. Sean and his sister were both born on full moons...Also our NICU doctor friend said Labor and Delivery gets crazy busy during full moons or cold fronts.

We also will have to see about the baby sizes, hair/eye color!

last minute doc appointment today

I was able to get a last-minute check-up since I am choosing not to induce today!

Quick updates:
  • Lily is still estimated to be around 7 pounds
  • Head has descended and is "as low as I've seen a head pre-labor"...according to Dr. P
  • about 3 cm dilated and 90% effaced
  • great heartbeat
  • "-1 Station" (see picture below)

It still means she could come now or in a week or so...who knows! We'll wait it out! At least I have shown progress each week. I have another appointment scheduled with Dr. P. next Tuesday for another check-up and some testing to see if an induction will be medically necessary. Lets hope she comes before that! Maybe the cold front will help!

The "About-to-have-a-baby-feeling"

Sean and I have sort of a term we use around the house. The "about to go to work feeling". It is when you have to go to work in like 30 min. or an hour and you are sort of anxiously looking at the clock and don't really feel like you can get stuff done around the house because you're about to leave for work...you know that feeling?

Well the "about to have a baby feeling" is very similar...except for some people it lasts for a lot longer...for me it has lasted since I was full-term and not working...which has been almost a MONTH! Its hard to plan anything like dinners for the week, social outings, errands, or anything...I just feel like I shouldn't be to far away from home so at any moment I can grab my last minute hospital things, shower, turn up the AC...you know...do all the stuff you need to do before leaving the house for possibly a few days. So it's kind of like the "about to go to work feeling" except the moment that is coming is the most monumental, special, and important day of my whole life...so- it leaves me a little anxious.

I can't really complain, though. I feel wonderful, physically. I haven't been put on bed rest, the doc is not worried about me for any reason, Lily is moving around like a healthy, crazy baby...things are great-it's just a waiting game.

I decided not to do an induction (unless the doc deems it medically necessary) and let nature take its course. I just have to keep telling myself- "she's not late, there is a reason she is still in there, it will be worth the wait"

Due dates just make people nervous. Especially a type-A personality, like me. BUT we all have to just remember God is in control- not us. I wish I could tell my Salado community about that sometimes...I feel so bad for Sean going to church every day and getting the worried eyes and comments "NO BABY YET?". Oh, but I get it too- on the phone, email, Facebook, grocery store, restaurants, while I'm out walking...that is exactly why I have been hiding out in my house the last month. I am feeling the "NO BABY YET?" feeling every morning when I wake up...but I just have to calm down and remember that God's timing is perfect and she'll be here exactly when she needs to be here.

due date #3

For those of you who don't know, we have had 3 due dates given to us. October 7, 9, and 10th.

It will be weird to see today's date come and go, but she still has time to come today! I think 10/10 would be a pretty cool B-day. Tomorrow, 10/11/13 is the anniversary of Sean and my first date- Homecoming at AHS in 2000! That means we've been a couple for THIRTEEN years! So tomorrow would be a great day for a baby, too!

A few questions I've been getting asked every day:

"How are you feeling?" or "You must be miserable"...nope. Feeling great! I feel like I could run a marathon! Lots of energy and feeling great!

"When is the baby coming?"...simple answer- I don't know. sorry, guys. The more I think about it the more I don't want to induce unless it is deemed medically necessary. She'll come when she comes.

In the next few moments/days before Lily gets here, I am just planning on continuing to rest, exercise, trying to eat well, and keep up on chores.

Due Date #2

For those of you who don't know, we have had 3 due dates given to us. October 7, 9, and 10th.

Today, October 9th was actually the first due date we heard from a financial secretary at Scott and White. She pulled out a little wheel thing and bam- we heard our first estimated due date!

One of my HS friends is having her baby today! How exciting! Maybe we will too.

I tried labor-inducing tricks all day yesterday. As you can see it did nothing, but it kept me busy and was kind of fun :)

It has been neat to look back on the blog from the whole journey. I have a tab on the blog that shows a quick little timeline of what happened when. (click on the word "timeline" to see...)

Also, It is pretty neat to look back on Lily's growth so far!

Hopefully she comes soon!

Progress report #4

Well- Lily is not here yet. We had our last doctor's appointment yesterday. Here is the scoop:
  • Dr. P's guess is that Lily is just under 7 pounds
  • I am still around 1cm dilated but am 80-90% effaced!
  • If I am still pregnant next week I chose to schedule a non-drug induced induction (Foley Bulb) October 15th very late in the evening. If that doesn't work, they might do a medical induction the next day...I really am not in favor of this, so I may change my mind about it when the time comes and just give her some more time. BUT I am pretty determined to try and get her out before the 15th!
Soooo...I am going to try any old wives tale in the book-home remedies for inducing labor. Here are a few-Pineapple (couldn't find fresh), red raspberry tea, evening primrose oil, egg plant, and my shoe is for walking! haha! There are a few others I will try too :) Why not?!

Since Lily didn't come before last night, we were able to be there for Salado High School's first EVER choir concert!!! It is only one choir that sang one song, but our friends at Belton HS let us tag on to their Fall concert! It was great for the Salado kids to see what a choir concert is like. The parents and students at Belton were SO supportive of our kids in Salado. They did really well and got a huge applause at the end. There is a video of the performance on facebook. They sang "Seasons of Love" from RENT.

I am so proud of Sean! He is totally a super dad! Just yesterday he went from working with these kiddos to his church job to Lily's doctor appointment to picking up something for dinner to the concert and then came home to watch the end of a football game to make sure his fantasy football team was doing ok. (I don't think the football worked out so well...). He is just so great and I am so glad we both got to be there for the Salado HS concert!

40 weeks!

Hopefully this is the last weekly picture!

Due date #1

Here is a picture of Lily at 9 weeks in utero. This was probably the happiest moment in pregnancy for Sean and I. She waved at us and had a very healthy heartbeat. Look at that peanut!

Advanced medical technology has made it to where they can look at measurements of the baby and guess the due date based on the sonogram. When we had this sonogram done in March, it calculated her estimated due date to be TODAY! October 7!

We'll see if Lily agrees with this.

The other 2 due dates given to us by staff members at Scott and White were October 9th and 10th. Both of those due dates were calculated by a wheel calendar similar to this:

getting closer...

This is my 40th week of pregnancy! We have heard 3 estimated due dates from medical professionals (October 7,9, and 10). Lily is so big, strong, and healthy. She is having way too much fun in my tummy!

Sean's prediction of coming yesterday during the ASU game was not right...oh well. I was sure she would already be here by now, but I also KNEW she was a boy! haha! Shows how much control I have over this whole baby thing.

Salado HS's first ever choir concert is tomorrow night. They are only doing one song, but I kind of hope Sean gets to be there to conduct it. If not, oh well. There is a backup plan.

Tomorrow afternoon we have an appointment which is exciting, but still won't tell us when she's coming...unless I am already in labor at that point and don't realize it.

I just can't believe I am about to go through the most life-changing, wonderful, scary, meaningful, athletic, emotional day of my whole life! We are very excited!

Super powers

At 39 weeks pregnant, I am JUST NOW starting to realize a very pregnant woman has some super powers:

The power to get rumors started- Starting last week and following through today, we've been hearing a few "congratulations"! Sorry- she's not here yet! Gotta love a small town and how quickly word spreads on FB!

The power to make everyone's head turn and stare- I've noticed for a few months that babies and little kids love to stare at my belly. They know what is in there and they want to play. Well now I've gotten so large that adults-even strangers-don't even hide the stare. Eyes will follow me down the street, all the way down a grocery store isle, from the minute I walk into a room until I sit down...its pretty funny. *see why I'm not at church the last week or two?!*

The power to make people really nervous- I've only had one person tell me it makes them nervous to be around a pregnant woman, but I can totally sense it in other people, too! I don't think people like it when they're in an elevator with me. haha. It might get stuck. Also, if I have to go up or down stairs or even just walking down the street people will tell me "be careful!"
Nervous energy.

The power to get out of a ticket-This has NOT happened, but if anyone is driving with me in the car and you get pulled over, you're pretty lucky. Just say we're on the way to the hospital and I'll start acting like I'm in pain. There is no easier way to get out of a ticket!

I got a really nice pedicure today and tried to 'take-it-all-in' knowing I won't be pampering myself much more in the next several years :) It will totally be worth it, though!

Smells like autumn in the kitchen!

I have some whole wheat pumpkin bread and acorn squash in the oven getting ready for dinner tonight.-Just trying to keep myself busy waiting on Lily :)
Happy Fall!

Yes- I realize it is only 2pm, but all I will have to do later is heat it up :)

Tomorrow I'll be getting a pedicure and maybe some more baking...who knows! Maybe I won't...maybe I'll be having a baby!
