busy bees

We had such a wonderful shower in Arlington! THANK you all for supporting us through your excitement of baby Lily!

We are slowly but surely getting the house ready (while we also work on our full time jobs, working out, chores, cooking dinner, etc)! Pictures to come soon, I'm sure!

We are blessed to have another shower for Salado friends coming up Saturday, September 7th!

growing pains- 3rd trimester

Miss Lily is growing rapidly! I am so blessed to have a healthy baby and a healthy pregnancy. 1st and 2nd trimester flew by with ease. So far the 3rd trimester is also going by very quickly but seems to be the most uncomfortable. I can't really complain too much, though- things are going well. It is just uncomfortable to sit or lay in one position for very long which makes it hard to sleep- but my energy level has been high throughout the day!

This weekend is my last weekend to travel more than an hour from Temple. Then, I'll be at the 30-week mark! I will be considered full-term by mid-September, so Lily could be coming VERY soon!

The nursery is all mostly ready- we just need things to put in the drawers :) Thankfully we have a shower coming up Saturday! We're beyond excited to celebrate this special time with friends and family.

4:30am

I've gotten to know 4:30 am the last few months... This morning I couldn't help but stare at Lily's room :) We did some great work in there yesterday with the curtains and wall decorations. Can't wait to see how she likes it! Well... I'm going to go see if Al Bundy has sold any shoes... ("Married with Children" reference)

Shake 'n Bake in my Tummy

Have I mentioned that Sean and I are able to feel parts of the baby from the outside of my tummy? It is so weird...you can feel her crawling around and sticking out her head, foot, elbow, or other things. She is especially active right after dinner- also that is when my contractions usually happen. It helps to sit back, kick up my feet, and stay hydrated :)

She also seems to kick when Sean puts his hand on her, during coffee time, when I'm eating (especially spicy food), and at about 4am! haha :)

routine labwork

This morning I had routine blood work done to test for gestational diabetes, anemia, etc. I had to drink 5 oz of this super sweet glucose drink. Not too bad...the lab tech asked if I was feeling ok and I was...but as he was almost done my vision went dark! All I could hear wash a shhhh sound and I was dripping with sweat. The little black man taking my blood felt SO bad! haha! I was brought water, juice, he held ice on my neck, and fanned me with the paperwork he had in his hand. I asked him to scoot the trash close by in case I had to throw up. WOW! What a wimp! In about 5-10 min he walked me out to Sean and told him to keep an eye on me...luckily we were just going upstairs to the doctor.

Scott and White in Temple is a teaching hospital and I have given consent for students to observe/work with me. I know what it is like doing clinical rotations in a healthcare field and you don't learn unless you get that experience...

...so I had a med-student that was in his early 20's on his first day of gynecology. He let me know he didn't know what he was doing and I told him it was ok :) He measured me and pushed way to hard on my abdomen- Sean was scared! haha! But he was very successful with the doppler- Lily's heartbeat was great!

Later Dr. P. came in and we were able to ask our questions and finish up the appointment. My blood labwork already came in and she said it was the "best hemoglobin count from someone in their 3rd trimester" that she had seen!

All is well! We are so blessed to have a healthy baby!

I have been saying I have a shake-n-bake in my tummy :)

Babymoon recap

What is a babymoon? A last trip couples take before baby comes!

Our baby moon/5-year anniversary was to the Inn Above Onion Creek in Kyle, TX (Just South of Austin). I HIGHLY recommend this place!

It was the closest you could get to an all-inclusive resort in the USA. Gourmet dinner and breakfast from their garden was included each day as were snacks and unique tea, juice, soda, and coffee.

We enjoyed hiking, the pool, sunsets, shooting stars, a lightening storm, relaxing, movies, a short trip to a winery/restaurant, and each other :) One of the BEST things we splurged on was a couples massage- we have done a few in the past, but this was the BEST! We felt so relaxed! It was so neat to reflect on the last 5 years of marriage and also look forward to our new lives with a baby on the way.

Lily's Bow

I've been feeling my belly pop out in certain places lately...like a little hard spot under the skin. Sean says it is just Lily's bow sticking out. She is so active!!....and making my belly so lopsided at times!

Yesterday Sean put his head to my belly to hear her heartbeat (apparently you can do that) and she firmly kicked him right in the ear!!!

A few personalized nursery crafts are done, thanks to the women of the family :) A few pictures are on facebook. More to come, I'm sure!

Babymoon coming soon!

Important Things

I have had a few people ask what are some important things you'll need right away when baby Lily comes. According to my research, here are some of those things we may need right away (in case you need tips on shopping for the baby shower). P.S.- I don't care if the items come from Target or Amazon If you find a better sale elsewhere- go for it!!

1) Infant Car Seat and base

2)Pack and Play (going to be used in our bedroom as a newborn sleeper)
3) Pump (so I don't have to do all the midnight feedings!)
4) freezer (for quick, easy meals) doesn't have to be this exact one!

5) Diapers and diapering things you'll find some of this on our registry. We are going to try cloth and disposable.

6) Nursing Accessories - you'll find these on the registry :)

There are many other things, but these seem to be the biggest needs that people have recommended :)

1st Mail for baby Lily

Yesterday, baby Lily got her first piece of mail! We are thrilled to have our friend Leslie hosting a baby shower for us at the end of the month! How great it will be! There is a link on the blog to our registry if anyone needs it :)

JULY. This month marks my THIRD trimester! It is the last month I am supposed to travel more than an hour from Temple. I've had contractions that come and go- some days I don't get any, but yesterday I had about 7 or 8...I am trying my best to drink a lot of water, so I'll just keep doing that and keep trying to take it as easy as I can...I just have so much to do! Looking forward to starting some projects with my family this weekend to decorate Lily's room :)
